JAZZ GIRLS LIVE IN CONCERT AND A PLEASANT SURPRISE

The Jazz Girls Concert happened last week on Friday Night and it was awesome. Our opening acts rocked and for our first time performing together in front of an audience, we did a pretty good job. It was mad exciting although there weren't too many people. Thank you all who came for the event. We are organizing for another soon enough so that all those who missed out can come watch. The songs were a compilation of personal compositions by the girls and covers which included, Hugh Masekela's 'the boy is doing it', Sade Adu's 'Is it a Crime' and 'Hear me' by Kelly Clarkson.

Here is a pic of us on stage courtesy of an attendee: Vicky performing 'Hear Me'  She is very ROCK!!

I was pleasantly surprised on Saturday evening by one of Kenya's finest musicians,Sarah Mitaru, who called bearing the best news ever. South African singer-song writer, Zamajobe, was landing in Nairobi in a few hours and she needed a backup vocalist. I was too happy to take the job ( more like a dream). So, the next morning I finally got to meet her. She is super awesome, cool, easy and has a really really amazing voice. We performed at Blankets and Wine, backed up by an amazing band. It was such an amazing experience and I'm glad I got to be that girl.

You need to listen to her to believe how amazing she is. Here is her video for her song Ndawo Yami, from her first album she released in 2004 by the same name.

PARTY ROCK ANTHEM...THE END!!!!

I was privileged last night to attend Israel's Independence day celebrations at the Ambassadors residence. I had no idea serious looking people ( ambassadors,  diplomats, politicians..etc.) could party that hard. It was crazy awesome. The atmosphere was good, wine was going round, people mingling..V.I.P.'s introducing themselves to me and asking me where I work....ha!ha!ha! Where I work. (oh yeah, and these people work in embassies and big time organizations). I knew we all had a little too much wine when Sam from Japan looking sharp in his suit had a karaoke session.. He sang 'La bamba' for us in Spanish and the dance that went with it...let's just say, I had a fun night. Oh, and I will not forget how the former British Ambassador entertained us most of the night...The shocker was when he sang " Cinderella by Ali Kiba" ( Tanzanian musician..and the song is in Swahili) yes..very well I might add. We were also a little surprised when he went all reggae " If Jah, is standing by my side, then why should I be afraid..."  I had a blast. Thank you Ambassador for welcoming us.

Shalom! to Israel and Congratulations on 64 years of independence. :)

Life has been great...I believe God has a special plan for everyone and these special plans have their times and seasons..It is incredible how many bad and good things that have happened in my life..All part of the plan..I guess. God has been good and He keeps coming through so this week is a believing week..
Believing in the crazy possibility that it could happen to me and it is happening to me :)
Have a blessed mid-week ya'll
Love, Sage

What do you do when life sucks??? Do you hide away and wait for the world to change? Do you cry and give up on yourself and your dreams? NO!!! You suck it up an do what you need to do. Follow a different path. Try again. Wait, breathe then go for it. No matter how many times we fall we should never let the things around us control us. The only person that can pick you up is you.
I am guilty of sulking a lot and using hurdles as a reason to slack off and be lazy but it's time to realise that this life and this moment is not here forever. Seize the opportunity even when it hurts to do it sometimes. If there is anything I have learnt in this life, it's that you can do whatever you want and you can dream whatever you want and anything, absolutely anything is possible...your dreams can come true whatever and whenever.

ION.....I have recently fallen in love with a korean pop group not because they are cute...cause they are, but because they carry a bit of Korea in there swag..lol...(I have a friend who says swagging, swaggness...and no, he isnt old)..I never thought I would ever listen to neither Korean nor Japanese pop..but you guys have to have to have to listen to these guys...

BUSY LIFE!!!

As much as I love music and all, I must admit it is so hard to juggle both music and my final year of school. I hardly ever find time to write let alone practice these days. "Kukazana tu!" I guess. My music life and my music dreams depend on that. Any new gigs??? God willing soon. I"m working on something. Not too big but something.
God bless you all this week.

'WOMAN'. A CONCERT FOR WOMEN BY WOMEN

Hey guys,
I will be performing this Wednesday 7th March 2012 at the Michael Joseph Center at the 'Woman' concert which is celebrating the International Women's Day. It starts at 7:30pm and entrance charges are 500 ksh. It's gonna be fantastic I will be performing alongside other incredible female musicians and poets. The line-up will include: Amare Poeta, Christine Kamau 'the jazzist', Dorothy Ghettuba, Elizabeth Njoroge, Essy of Aziza Band, June Gachui, Kasiva, Kathy Kiragu, Ma3 band, Murphy's Flaw. Ngwatilo, Nicole Maloba, Sara Mitaru, Sentimental Floetry, Viola Karuri and Myself. It's gonna be great and it's for a great cause.
